Virtual Panel Theater: A Tale of 2 Ghibli Classics, 10:30am – 11:30am

In 1988, two animated features from Studio Ghibli premiered in Japanese theaters. Despite disappointing box office returns, both have gone on to become classics of Anime and today are among many fans’ top ten lists — MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, and GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, respectively. Both of which are polar opposites, but in many ways alike. They also share a lot of compelling behind the scenes facts. Take a memory trip down memory lane as this panel discusses this odd couple of masterpieces (both celebrating their 35th anniversaries) and explores their rich history.

EVA Foam Basics, 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were big armored cosplays! This panel will help you learn the basics of EVA Foam construction with panelist @iziebuilds.

NJ Frills Presents: Lolita Fashion 101, 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Come meet with New Jersey Frills, the state-wide community of lolitas, and learn the ins and outs of this beautiful and iconic Harajuku fashion staple! Learn about the origins of Lolita Fashion, the brands, the community, the people, and learn some tips and tricks from experienced lolitas! Whether you are an admirer of the fashion from afar or you’re experienced in the fashion, all are welcome to join! Who knows if you might end up joining in the frills and fun of being a lolita?

Why Disney Live Action, Why?, 4:00pm – 5:00pm

We’re going to discuss what’s wrong with the Disney Live Action remakes and how, that is if, they can break the dreaded Disney curse. Audience participation encouraged.

We will have a discussion about the popular 2023 K-Drama “The Glory” and other K-Dramas. Come meet other K-Drama fans to have a fruitful discussion about “The Glory” and more!

Philly Pri Presents: Guess the Song, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Songs will be played for a few songs for you to guess! Songs are from K-Pop music or K-Drama OSTs. Join fellow K-Pop and K-Drama fans for a fun game.

Philly Pri Presents: K-pop Bingo, 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Philly Pri will be hosting a K-pop themed version of Bingo. Come out and get ready to shout Bingo!

Philly Pri Presents: K-Culture Jeopardy, 3:00pm – 4:00pm

Come out and play jeopardy with us! There will be different categories related to Korean culture (K-pop, K-Dramas, Korean food and so much more) and different levels of questions for each category!

Esports, Video Games, and School: Why your teachers should be letting you play more of them!, 5pm – 6pm

Come join us and learn about the educational value of utilizing video games in the classroom. We will focus on the academic advantages, but also the social emotional advantages from the founder of the E-Sports program at Plainfield High School.

Con Survival: How to Make the Most of a Con, 10:00am – 11:00am

Learn how to plan/organize prior to going to a con, convention etiquette, and managing your time at a con so you can see and do everything that you’re interested in! We will also talk about physical and mental health at cons as well.

Mental Health & Bullying, 11:30am – 12:30pm

Come join a discussion about mental health, including statistics, mental illness, & ways to take good care of our mental well-being. Learn how we can use this to help us enjoy the con as well as how to go about it in our daily loves. We will also discuss bullying, which has been occurring more often recently in the con scene, including the cosplay & nerd communities. In addition, we will also discuss ways to combat bullying & avoid “con creeps”. We’ll also allow audience participation in sharing their mental health experience & tips on how to manage our mental health.

Enstars Lore Trivia: Recapping 7 years of Content!, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

This panel is a gameshow featuring 3 to 4 rounds of Kahoot focusing on lore from the hit mobile game Ensemble Stars! Through almost 8 years of story content and events, a majority of the fandom joined only within the past three years! Test your knowledge and learn about the canon universe through the rounds of Kahoot quizzes, starting off in a beginner level, then increasing to medium, hard, and extreme difficulties! Prizes such as stickers and pins will be awarded to the highest scorers for each round.

Pepakura: The Art of Papercraft, 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Pepakura, or papercraft, is the art of making models out of paper. These days, a lot of papercraft models are made based on anime and video game characters. It could be a low-cost way to create a collection of your favorite characters! It has also been used as a means of making cosplay props and armor. Models can be created from 3D models or downloaded off the internet. Learn the process from creation of a new model, from the original 3D model to real-world paper model!

From Thought to Creation, 4:00pm – 5:00pm

From Thought to Creation: “How to start your own series” discusses the creation process for creating your own series of comics. The discussion will encompass plots, characters, and script writing while leaving the audience with the start of a design of their own original character.

Rhythm Heaven Custom Remixing: The Origins, Popularity, and How-To’s, 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Wanna know how Rhythm Heaven Custom Remixes are made? Don’t know much about them? Wait, you don’t KNOW what Rhythm Heaven is?! Well…It’s OK. You don’t have to Go For a Perfect!, but you can always Try Again… Join MaxaNum as he shows you the origins of Custom Remixes, from the very first one in Japan to the more recent ones from talented editors, filled with customization and VERY advanced techniques! (And not to worry – if you have NO idea what’s going on, we’ll give you a brief explanation about Nintendo’s cute and colorful rhythm game)

Kigurumi is a type of masked cosplay not seen much at conventions. Come join me, Inigo and Lucas as we guide you through the history of kigurumi and show what makes this supposedly creepy cosplay type so beautiful.

Anime Jeopardy, 12:00pm – 12:45pm

Exactly what it says on the box – it’s Jeopardy, anime style! Hit the buzzer, answer the questions, get the highest score, win a prize! Disclaimer: I’ve been informed by the Trebek estate that I’ll be sued into the shadow realm if I impersonate him, but I’ll do my best to be a good host.

How to Pitch Graphic Novels feat. comic artist Shauna J. Grant, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Love graphic novels? Ever wanted to see your own on a bookstore shelf? Comic artist Shauna J. Grant will walk you through the basics of putting together your very own pitch package that you can show to prospective editors and agents. You’ll also learn some magical tips to help you be prepared and get your stories noticed! Great for artists who especially love middle grade and early readers comics!

Dynamic Anime Improv, 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Son Goku, Usagi Tsukino, and Izuku Midoriya walk into a café. How does that play out? In Dynamic Improve Anime Edition, that’s what the Audience needs to figure out!

Sailor Moon Through the Years, 5:30pm – 6:30pm

For over 30 years, and across many iterations, the world’s champion for love and justice has remained a symbol of feminine strength. How did Sailor Moon arrive on Western shores? And what parts of her legend might be off your radar? Join us for a retrospective celebrating the series, the fandom, and the legacy of the one named Sailor Moon!

Virtual Panel Theater: Castle in the Sky – Adventures Above the Clouds, 1:30pm – 2:30pm

Inspired by a passage from Jonathan Swift’s immortal “Gulliver’s Travels”, Hayao Miyazaki’s third animated feature, CASTLE IN THE SKY, has thrilled audiences since its initial release in 1986. You are invited on a special voyage to discover this legendary movie’s rich legacy. You’ll learn about the birth of a Japanese animation studio, real-life events and people who shaped the story, two different scores, its lasting legacy — and a whole lot more besides.

Danganronpa Jeopardy, 3:00pm – 4:00pm

This gameshow panel is centered around Danganronpa. The game runs like Jeopardy would — there are 5 categories with a series of questions related to the Danganronpa games. Contestants (either the room will be split or 3 individual audience members will be contestants) will answer the questions from a chosen category, earn points, and lead up to the final jeopardy.

The Poor Otaku’s Guide to Going to Japan, 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Japan doesn’t have to be expensive! Believe it! Our duo of poor but expert travelers have the experience to help you get those costs down, so you can eat more than instant ramen and also buy that figure you’ve been searching for!

Manly Battleships Gameshows, 11:00am – 3:00pm

Tournament of Voices, 4:00pm – 5:00pm

In this tournament-style game show panel complete with fabulous prizes a silhouette of a well know video game character is shown and members of the audience come up and perform their interpretation of that character’s voice via lines provided. The audience then cheers for who they thought did the best. The winner moves onto the next round until the final winner is determined. Did I mention there will be prizes?

Calling all Pokemon fans! Do you think you know everything there is to know about the world of Pokemon? Put your knowledge to the test at our exclusive Pokemon trivia panel at Kogaracon. Our panelists will challenge you with niche Pokemon facts and unique quests that will put your skills to the test. From the original 151 to the latest generations, our questions will cover all aspects of the Pokemon world, so bring your A-game!

But don’t worry if you’re not a Pokemon expert just yet. Our panel is designed for fans of all levels, and our panelists will provide plenty of hints and clues to help you along the way. Plus, you’ll have the chance to connect with other fans and show off your skills as a true Pokemon master.

Philly Pokémon League: 6v6 Singles Pokémon Tournament, 3:30pm until a winner is crowned

Join us for the ultimate Pokemon battle. The Philadelphia Pokemon League is hosting a no legends, singles, bring 6 pick 6 tournament! Compete against other skilled trainers with no holds barred and show off your best team for a chance to win it all.
